I’m Brian, the founder of BP-Genesis, LLC. I’ve spent my career getting technology projects and products off the whiteboard and into the hands of real users. These days, that mostly means AI.
How I got here
I started in banking, working in corporate trust in the early ’90s. In 1995, I joined the family software development and consulting business. I spent the next 23 years there, learning the business from the inside and growing into running its daily operations. It had ten full-time people, and I handled a bit of everything: clients, hiring, training, marketing, billing and delivery.
We built new products, kept existing ones running, and delivered software and systems projects for both government and private-sector clients. Revenue grew more than 300% along the way, and somewhere in there we moved from traditional planning to Agile, using Scrum and Kanban.
Leading projects and programs
In 2018, I shifted into consulting for other organizations, leading agile software projects for clients across several industries. Those projects grew in scope and spend as clients saw results. A year later, I was managing other consultants and project managers, and in 2020, I stepped into a chief business officer role, planning growth strategy for the whole organization and building out recruiting and staffing.
From late 2020, I went to work as a delivery leader for a consulting firm. Over the next four years, I ran large programs for a global telecom and a global agribusiness client, and moved from principal up to director. A big part of the job was people: coaching consultants and team managers, and keeping clients confident that they were getting real value.
Turning to AI
Over the last couple of years, I’ve focused on data and generative AI. As a solution owner, I sat between the client’s business stakeholders and the design and development teams, so the AI we built was practical and tied to a real business result. That work took me into industries like hospitality, logistics and insurance. Today, I help organizations get real value, efficiency and return on investment out of AI.
I also teach. Since 2022, I’ve been an adjunct professor of business, covering information systems, business analytics, marketing, and operations and supply chain. I bring AI into the classroom too, helping students understand how to use it effectively and responsibly.
What I bring
- Delivering data and generative AI solutions with results the business can measure
- Building client relationships that last, and the business development that goes with them
- Knowing how the business runs: operations, finance, supply chain, leadership and strategy
- Running projects and programs both ways, agile and traditional, with certifications in both
- Process and change management, so new tools actually get used
- Explaining things clearly to everyone from the front line to the executive suite
My experience runs from the public sector to startups to Fortune 50 organizations, backed by certifications in agile delivery, generative AI and data governance.
Why BP-Genesis, LLC
I’ve worked at both ends: a small family business and big global programs. Along the way, I saw how much project time goes to overhead instead of results. BP-Genesis, LLC is my way of building the other way: small, fast and focused on real-world impact, with projects measured in weeks, not months.
